Modro-červené letní šaty (Meganiny šaty od Tilly and the Buttons) / Blue and red summer dress (Megan dress by Tilly and the Buttons)

Šaty níže jsem ušila podle návodu a střihu v knížce "Láska na první steh" od Tilly Walnes.

I have sewn the dress below using the directions and pattern from the book "Love at First Stitch" by Tilly Walnes.

 Knížka u nás vyšla v roce 2015 a určitě ji doporučuji všem začínajícím či mírně pokročilým švadlenkám. Obsahuje celkem sedm střihů a realizací každého z nich se naučíte nové šicí techniky. Jednotlivé postupy jsou srozumitelně popsány a doplněny fotografiemi jednotlivých kroků.

The Czech version of the book was released in 2015 (the original English version a year earlier) and I can definitely recommend it to all beginners and pre-intermediate dressmakers. The book contains seven patterns and by making each of them you will learn several new useful techniques. The techniques are described very clearly and individual steps are also accompanied with photos.

Meganiny šaty jsou třetím výrobkem, který jsem podle knížky ušila (dříve jsem podle ní vyrobila letní kalhoty a sukni). Tentokrát jsem použila úplně stejnou barevnou kombinaci látek, jako je u jednoho modelu v knížce, protože se mi tato modro-červená kominace moc líbila.

Bohužel jsem ale zvolila polyester, který není do letních veder zrovna ideálním materiálem, bavlna byla určitě příjemnější na nošení. Poučení pro příště...


Megan dress is my third garment made according to this book (I had made summer trousers based on Margot pyjamas pattern and the and Delphine skirt earlier). This time I used the very same combination of fabric colours as pictured in the book, as I love this blue and red combination.

Unfortunately, I have chosen a polyester fabric for my dress, which is not the ideal material to wear in really hot days, cotton would certainly be more pleasant. I will know next time...

Střih Meganiných šatů mě oslovil, mám ráda retro, takže jej v budoucnu určitě znovu použiji. Příště bych chtěla ušít celé šaty z jedné - pravděpodobně vzorované - látky.

The pattern for Megan dress really speaks to me, as I love vintage patterns. I will use it again for sure. Next time I would like to sew the whole dress from one - probably patterned - fabric.

Jehelníček - kaktus / Pincushion - Cactus

 Tělo kaktusu je dlouhé asi 6 cm a je vytvořeno z plsti, jednotlivé části jsem sešila v ruce. Vyplnila jsem jej zbytky látek z dřívějších projektů, které jsem nastříhala na malé kousky. Květináček je vyplněn kávovými zrny. Inspiraci jsem našla na Pinterest

The body of the cactus - about 6 cm in high -  is made of felt, the individual pieces of which are hand-sewn together. I have filled the body with leftovers of fabrics used for other project cut in small pieces. The small flower-pot is filled with coffee beans. I have found inspiration for the project on Pinterest

Pejsek před dveře - ochrana proti průvanu / Doggie draught excluder

Tohoto pejska jsem ocenila hlavně v zimě, kdy mi pod vchodovými dveřmi táhne. Inspiraci jsem našla na Pinterest.

Pejsek je ušitý ze silnější bavlněné látky a je vycpán materiálem z polštářů koupených v Ikea. Je 90 cm dlouhý.


I appreciated the doggie especially during the winter, when it prevented the cold coming to my flat under the door. I have found inspiration on Pinterest.

The doggie is made from a thicker cotton fabric and is filled with the stuff from pillows bought in Ikea. It is 90 cm long.

Károvaná sukně (Delphinina sukně - Tilly and the Buttons) / A tartan skirt (Delphine skirt - Tilly and the Buttons)

Už loni na podzim jsem si ušila sukni z kárované látky podle střihu na Delphininu sukni od Tilly Walnes. Látka je silnější, takže sukni nosím hlavně na jaře a na podzim. Je dlouhá 55 cm.

Last autumn I sewed a skirt from tartan fabric according to the pattern for Delphine skirt by Tilly Walnes. As the fabric is quite thick, I made use of the skirt mainly in the autumn and in the spring.    It is 55 cm long.

Taška s květinovým potiskem / Sewn bag with flower design

Na léto jsem si ušila tašku s květinovým potiskem. Látku jsem koupila v Ikea a uši jsem objednala na Aliexpress. Hotová taška je široká 40 cm a na délku má 45 cm.

I have sewn a bag with flower design for the summer. The fabric is from Ikea and the handles have been ordered on Aliexpress. The finished bag is 40 cm wide and has 45 cm in length.
